Jarvis grew in CBH also known as the Christian Brotherhood. CBH was notoriously known as one of the roughest neighborhoods in Jackson. Growing up, Jarvis struggled to make school a priority and he found himself in trouble with the law. Eventually, Jarvis was sentenced to 15 years in jail for armed robbery. While at Walnut Grove Correctional Facility, Jarvis learned the true meaning of hope and second chances.

"Jarvis Jones is an exceptional motivational speaker. Our students were engaged and very receptive to his story. His powerful life story is one that students need to hear in our country’s current state. His story is one that can definitely turn those students who are on the wrong track around. He emphasizes the importance of making good decisions and the need for a good education."

Forrest City High Principal
"I met Jarvis Jones about 2 years ago while he was presenting his presentation in a classroom in Holmes County. I was totally impressed with his presentation and the children were mesmerized by his words. Shortly after that I invited him to be a presenter at two of our (MS Tobacco Free Coalition) annual KICK BUTTS DAY (Anti-Tobacco) events. His presentation was great and I loved how he could relate to the students. His down to earth personality makes him a magnet to adults as well as children. I have referred him to several individuals/organizations because his story needs to be heard by all. "
